Diversity, Empowerment and Synergies between Academia and the Industry in Machine Learning

Caroline is the Head of Tech Talent Acquisition at Agorize which is the leading platform for online innovation challenges. Holding a Master's degree from the Paris Institute of Political Science (Sciences Po) and recruiting Data Scientists, Machine Learning Engineers and Researchers, Caroline has always been passionate about encouraging women to network, speak at conferences and present their work to peers. Highly involved in promoting diversity in engineering teams, Caroline met Chloé-Agathe Azencott during the ICLR Conference 2017. Together, they decided to open the French chapter of Women in Machine Learning and Data Science in Paris.

WiMLDS Paris aims at improving diversity in Machine Learning. As its co-founder, Caroline Chavier will highlight the work done to promote and support women and gender minorities in Machine Learning and Data Science by giving pragmatic examples of what can be done. As a tech recruiter, Caroline will also share tips to better understand the synergies between academia and the industry. If you hope to prepare yourself to interview, she will share insights to help you succeed.

One particularly popular moment associated to the colloquium is the “Master Class” where students have the opportunity to give a short (but well-prepared) presentation of his/her work. Each presentation (10 minutes) is followed by an open discussion with the guest speaker (15 minutes) who gives a detailed feedback. The complete program is provided here.
