The papers published in these proceedings were presented at the 1st CONTEXT Doctoral Consortium. The Doctoral Consortium was held in Paris, France of July 6, 2005 during the Fifth International and Interdisciplinary Conference of Modeling and Using Context (CONTEXT-05).
The CONTEXT conference series is meant to provide an interdisciplinary forum where researchers can exchange ideas, methodologies, and results on context and has become a reference conference for all people doing research on context. Purpose of the 1st CONTEXT Doctoral Consortium was to bring together PhD students working on many different fields and aspects on the topic of context and to give them the opportunity to present and to discuss their research in a constructive, interdisciplinary, and international environment. The consortium was accompanied by prominent researchers on the topic of context to discuss the current research areas and to give helpful feedback to the students. For this year's consortium, we received 27 submissions. Among them 15 have been accepted for presentation. The submissions demonstrate a variety of research topics and research approaches. Each paper was presented and the discussed with prominent researchers and fellow students.
