Starting from the observation of a subject solving an original problem, the paper shows the diversity of monitoring methods. When we monitor the solution of a problem, we are at the metalevel: we are studying what we are doing in order to direct the search more efficiently. It appears that several methods, which were very useful for solving the problem, are not yet included in AI problem solving systems.
