France 3 featured Canarin-II a low-cost portable PM2.5 sensor suitable for environmental monitoring and personal exposure assessment. Canarin has the potential to be used by any citizen to provide a cooperative assessment of the pollution. The system provides PM information that is geographically tagged and time-referenced. Canarin is adaptive, it automatically connects to available WiFi networks and when disconnected stores the date rating for next connection opportunity. Canarin is the outcome of an international collaboration between UPMC-LIP6, the Asian Institute of Technology, and the Macao Polytechnic Institute and will be used in proof of concept deployments in France, Thailand and Portugal.
