Intervenant(s) : Muge Fesci Sayit (Ege University, Turkey)
Software Defined Networking (SDN) is a recently emerged paradigm introducing the separation of the data plane and the control plane of computer networks. By putting the network intelligence in the control plane, this technology allows network operators to develop and implement application specific routing strategies. Today, most people enjoy the video streaming services running over Internet. The performance of the video streaming applications, in terms of QoE, can be enhanced by using the advantages provided by SDN technology. In this presentation, I will present new routing algorithms and system architectures that are utilizing SDN technology, developed for improving the performance of the video streaming applications including HAS (HTTP adaptive streaming) and scalable video coding streaming applications.
Biography: Müge Sayıt works as an associate professor at International Computer Institute, Ege University, Turkey. She received her PhD. and MSc. degree in computer science from Ege University. Her research interests include designing and implementing SDN/NFV networking architectures for network operators and service providers that considers to provide QoS and to increase QoE; developing and implementing OTT (Over-the-Top) video services, routing algorithms and communication protocols for increasing the performance of the multimedia applications running over future networks; the performance requirements of video streaming applications utilizing SDN and NFV as well as developing and implementing intra and inter-domain SDN communication protocols. She has authored or co-authored over 30 peer-reviewed conference and journal papers in these research areas. She is a project manager for several national projects related to SDN and she was also involved as a researcher and specialist in several national and international projects. She has served as general chair of SDN workshop in a national conference in 2017 and served as TPC member in several international conferences and workshop related to SDN/NFV and multimedia communications.
