Speaker(s) : Eric JUL (Université de Copenhague, DIKU, et Microsoft Research Cambridge)

This talk describes Operating System Mobility - after the advent of Virtual Machine Monitors such as Xen, it has become realistic to migrate not just an application but the entire operating system. We present an example of what this added functionality can give namely in the world of Grid Computing. Essentially, we use the concept of Operating System mobility to move entire applications around within a Grid system. We are in the process deploying the Evil Man system in the context of the Danish Center for Grid Computing and we present some performance numbers. This talk is intended for a general Computer Science audience.
