FERTMANN Martin
Talks : He is visiting LIP6 supported by a Short Term Scientific Mission Grant from EU Cost Action 19143 - Global Digital Human Rights Network (GDHRNET) in order to further investigate how private, quasi-judicial institutions (such as Facebook’s Oversight Board) can contribute to protecting human rights in digital constellations, including which criteria have to be met relating to their design, “adjudication” and institutional self-conception to realize such contributions. Given there is no single legal frame that could be used to judge these questions, they cannot be answered from an exclusively legal standpoint, but must be approached interdisciplinarily. The purpose of his visit, hosted by Dr. Meryem Marzouki (LIP6/NPA) is therefore to incorporate in this string of research lessons on institutional dynamics from political sciences and previous projects within the multistakeholder governance of the internet at LIP6.
